University of Findlay Campus Native Plants Wetlands and Rain Garden – Findlay

1300 North Cory Street, Findlay 

Behind the Japanese Program House and Sensory Garden, along Howard Run, native plants thrive in an old swale where a demonstration project has been completed. The rain garden & wetland help control storm water from nearby parking lot runoff and filter pollutants going into the watershed. Interpretive panels and a loop trail welcome visitors to see nature and science at work. This University and Blanchard River Watershed Partnership project is funded by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative, provided as a sub-grant from the Ohio Lake Erie Commission to assist in finding solutions for cleaner water and a healthier ecosystem. Owens Community College Findlay Campus Pollinator Garden and Bee Apiary

6115 County Road 18, Findlay 

In Spring 2018, the Owens Findlay Campus became the 36th educational institution in the nation to be certified as an affiliate of the Bee Campus USA program, and the first in the state of Ohio. Located next to the Voorhees House Conference Center Bee Apiary is a new pollinator garden completed in 2023, planned and installed by Findlay Boy Scout Troop 319, assisted by Star Farms Native Plants Nursery. Rieck Center for Habitat Studies Wetlands, Prairie and Native Plantings

17311 Jackson Township Road 166, Arlington

Fifty-four acres of diverse habitats, in naturally-succeeding old farmland along the Blanchard River, the Rieck Center serves the community and University of Findlay students as an environmental education setting for firsthand experiences and innovative studies. Trails lead to various natural habitats in the watershed, through streamside forests and meadows, with the Rieck Center building open by special appointments with Friends of the Rieck Center.

Find us off I-75, two miles from the University of Findlay and three miles from Marathon Petroleum Corporation. We're across the road from AMC Movie Theater, and a half-mile from local restaurants. Central Findlay and Mazza Museum, on the university campus, are within five minutes. Enjoy our 24-hour fitness center, indoor pool, and Garden Grille & Bar.

Oakwoods Nature Preserve Wetlands, Prairie and Discovery Center Native Gardens

1400 Oakwoods Lane, Liberty Township, Findlay

Doug Tallamy’s “The Nature of Oaks” comes alive throughout this Hancock Park District nature preserve. Stately oaks along miles of trails, around Shank Lake, next to prairies and meadow wetlands provide wild, scenic areas all seasons. Oakwoods is full of seasonal beauty that supports wildlife, environmental education, and nature-based outdoor recreation, centered by the Richard S. “Doc” Phillips Discovery Center.
